Gas treatment

I now understand why the TEXECO down the street from my house doesn't have very many customers. I have filled up twice with in the last two weeks and I’m now having problem when I get lower then 1/4 of a tank. What is a best gas treatment or additive to remove water from my tank?

dont get fuel with ethanol, otherwise drain the tank or burn it off

the gas treatments are about the same chemical. one station here sales gas without corn liquor added... the six don't care.. i think it would run on a pine knot if it would fit in the tank,,

There is a product made by Penray, that is called NOX-ICE. It is an additive like the old HEET, but it works a little different. HEET will mix with the water and settle to the bottom of a tank, where the NOX-ICE will mix and make a burnable mixture out of teh water and fuel additive. I used to work at a Highway Department and we used this stuff all of the time in the snowplow trucks.

You might want to try STA-BIL.

It's pricey, but I swear by it. When I had a company car, I put less than 2,000 miles on my square over six years time. The gas, obviously, got real old and STA-BIL came to the rescue every time. Even though I'm retired and drive the truck on a regular basis, I still keep a bottle or two on hand. Never know where you'll get some bad gas.

Water is heavier than gas so it will settle to the bottom of and tank or gas can that has water and gas in it. Your tank is a bottom feeding unit as all are so if you had water , then you would notice it at all levels in the tank and not just at 1/4 tank or less. To worsen things even more they have added ethanol to our gas here in Texas. Alcohol absorbs gas and pulls octane form the gas . Its called phase seperation and it sucks. I think you have a different problem if it is only happening under 1/4 tank.

Seems to me Heet is just high priced Methanol, which can be bought by the gallon. 99% Isopropanol (Isopropyl alcohol) solubilizes the water into the gasoline nicely. It can be had at most drug stores. Been using it for many years.

i had sensor pproblems with the new gas in my HHRss would use seafoam on a regular basis with very short term results
switched out and tried berrymans for about 1/3 the price , problem solver no check engine light since i used it 6weeks ago// with seafoam only lasted 2weeks at the most usually less

I gotta drive over 150 miles and probably pay thru the nose to get it. Ain't worth it for me. So far I've been lucky in this area. Haven't had much problems.... yet.

What gets me is that the government is still subsidizing and insisting on using the ethanol mixture. Everything I've ever read says that it's not saving the environment since you have to truck the ethanol rather than pipeline it and has diminshed the longevity of many products. More landfill junk.

To me it's another one of those "feel good" things that someone thought was a good idea at the time. Now it's a nightmare.

Don't forget the massive ammount of energy (oil/gas) that it takes to produce that ethanol!

and cars that use ethanol usually get worse mileage then the same car runing normal gas. to me it seems like a waste of money to make/use...

I agree. If you're looking for something to just pour in your tank, isoproyl alcohol is cheap and very effective. The water still goes through the engine, of course.

If you want to completely eliminate water, then you'd want to make modifications to the fuel line so that a fuel filtre/water trap unit is plumbed in. But, I think that's more than what you need to do, but it's an option nonetheless.
