I have an ECE 2.5/4 drop, which included a disc swap for the front and leaves (factory leaf truck) for the rear.

Just rolled 30,000mi (installed at 104k, now 134k!) and haven't even had to change a thing with it yet!

My ECE 4/6 drop kit should be here any day now. I'll post pics of the install on my 68/72.

I've got their 3.5/6 drop on my 70 shortbed and love it. It actually rides better than it did when it was stock. I would highly recommend them and their kit, they are very knowledgeable and easy to work with. It was real nice to buy a kit and everything actually fit, unlike some of the junk that I bought for my rig. Good luck

HEY PROJECT 1970, THE KIT COMES WITH DE-ARCHED LEAFS? ALWAYS WONDERED ABOUT HOW TO LOWER THE REAR OF OUR LEAF TRUCKS.

HOW MUCH WAS THE KIT. I NEED THE DISCS TOO. MINE IS 4 WHEEL MANUAL DRUM.

I think I had somewhere between $1000 and $1500 into the whole thing; I also stuck with the 6-lug rotors, which cost a little more than the 5-lug versions.

They're not de-arched, they're completely new srpings; IIRC, there's only three leaves, and a stack of plates in the middle so you still use the stock-size U-bolts. Buy new U-bolts, though; two of mine flat-out broke when I tried to take them off!

Looking at them, you'd think they wouldn't be as stiff...well...they are, and they still haul a load just fine.

Okay, here's what I got:

’63-’70 C-10 Drop Spindle/6 Lug Disc Brake Conversion Kit $899.00
02-6392-4LF ’63-’72 GMC 4" Drop Rear Leaf Spring Assemblies $349.00 pr. (which is a misnomer...GMC's were factory coils too!)
02-7002 ’63-’72 C-10 KYB Nitrogen Gas Front Shocks $35.00 ea.
02-7510 ’63-’72 C-10 KYB Nitrogen Gas Rear Shocks $35.00 ea.
2 each of those, except at the time, they were selling BellTech NitroDrops instead.

That right there is almost $1400...add $30 for UBolts, and other money for front end parts (get them elsewhere than ECE if you need to save money; they're not cheap and they admit it, they just offer the stuff conveniently set up in one package).

If you really wanted to...you could probably do it with just the spindles and some of the line adapters. I think everything else is an off-the-shelf original-style part (for a '71, that is), from Raybestos or ACDelco. (Good stuff.) I'd give them a call; they would probably be willing to work with you on that.

Oh, and budget in new rear wheel cylinders as well. It's apparently not uncommon to blow those up once you get this whole setup in there (mine failed, and I've seen others post extremely similar problems).

ECE is not the cheapest, I think some of the board vendors could beat them on price (GMCPaul's comes to mind) but they are certainly worth it. (This is not meant to rip on the board vendors at all; I've read nothing but great things about GMCPaul and his service/product, I just didn't even know about him / this board in 1999 when I did the swap!)
