Shuddering in the ?

At around 40 MPH, the area under the cab begins to "shudder". I am suspecting the U Joint. Where the drive shaft slides into the tailpeice, it feels like a little to much play, but how much is to much? Could it be The motor mounts? Thanks much for any info! Joe

Are you sure is not just one of your tires out of balance?

If it's a tire it would be a rear one because you are felling it in the cab, a front one would be in the steering.

Re: Shuddering in the ?

I'm sure Its not the tires. The "shuddering" Is intermittent. I too believe its probably the U joints and am in the process of replacing them. I will Post when I get them in and do a road test. Thanks much to both of you for the info. Joe

I vote for Ujoints. I had a similar condition in my truck recently. I checked for play in the joints, but didn't have any.
For giggles I pulled the drive shaft and found one of the three caps in my rear joint had no grease, and subsequently the bearings were dust.
