Crazedlist.org will allow you to search Craigslist across the whole USA in one search....I use it all the time.

searchtempest.com allows you to search within a given mileage of you zip code. Along with other options. Its the best site I have found.

To search across the country, enter the item you're looking for in quotation marks followed by site : craigslist.org. for example:
"TPI" site:craigslist.org

Searchtempest.com. Is by far the best site I have found to search Craigslist, it even does eBay at the same time if you want it to.
