Hey guys want to how much room you gain by removing gas tank from cab, will seats be able to go back i have a mid chevy bench seat,and has anybody cut seat brakets to lower seat down. Tinking of doing to gain more room thanks

Removing the tank won't create anymore room for passengers... the top of the seat will still hit the back of the cab below the window. If you cut the seat brackets down to get the seat to fit into the recess where the tank was your head will hit the back of the cab below the window.

My new seats are larger, so I lost space overall, but would have lost more if I would have kept the tank. I am shortening my steering column slightly for a better seat position.

Yea i was curious about that myself. I am 6 ft and I am a little to close to the pedals. its not uncomfortable but a couple more inches would really make a difference.

I'm 6'4" and mostly leg, but my seats fit about right. A stock bench might go back a little further, but the top will hit so you might be more upright. Some thinner seats would add more room, though. I went for comfort in the seats and will adjust the ergonomics as I build.

I removed the tank and moved the seat base brackets back 1.5" this let me gain room for my legs. the seat base goes back more and the seat back is more upright, but it is lots better for my legs.

I removed the tank and put a box back there for my son's 2, 12" woolfers. There is about 6 -7 inches behind the seat that the box takes up. I have some pics somewhere. Since the main issue seems to be "leg"room - and the fact that the pedals often seem too close to the driver - has anyone considered or already done a pie cut to the brake and/or clutch pedal? Seems that when properly tuned and adjusted, full throw is not used on either - a small pie cut and re-weld on the brake pedals would definitely help the situation. Just curious - I've seen it done on a few other vehicles and thought it might be good to do in my truck - my ONLY issue is pedals too close to me. I'm also about 6' tall, and the truck fits me fine except for pedal location.
Thoughts? (Don't want to hijack - but this seems to be a related topic)

I put in 2006 Chevy bucket seats with the console in the center. I am closer to the steering wheel now and the tank is not the problem, it is the back of the cab. I can put the seat straight up and it's still a loss of room.
