Wheel/Tire Question on 1500HD

The wife and I bought an '03 Chevy 1500HD today (I'll get pics tomorrow). It's got brand new 265/75/16 Load Range E Firestone tires, and I convinced Wife those tires and stock alloy wheels need to go on my '88 1 ton. I'd like to put some Eagle 0589 16x8 wheels on the '03 with some 285/75/16 tires. I'm a little concerned because the wheels have 4" backspacing and a -11mm offset. I'm guessing a torsion bar crank and maybe trimming the lower valance will be in order. Do you guys think I'll be ok? I don't mind a little rubbing at full lock, but don't want it to be too bad. I could get 16x7 wheels in the same style, but I've always been told it's best to put a 285 on 8" wide wheels. Thoughts?

Re: Wheel/Tire Question on 1500HD

i'm running 285's on stock wheels on my 01 and they cleared with just a torsion bar crank. although i did go ahead and buy a rough country leveling kit and put on it to give it a little taller stance

Re: Wheel/Tire Question on 1500HD

You'll be fine. I'm running 295 75 16 on a 16*9 and it only rubs when the truck is full of people and in reverse. I trimmed the valance and a bit of the plastic in back of the wheel well and had the bars cranked but later added keys.
