FNG here...
New guy to the sight, not new to square body chevys. me and the parents shared an 87 2wd 'burban as a teenager, I had an 86 k20 for a few years that i sold a few months back (needed a trans, was rotty, and I was bored with it.)
Been looking for a truck for about a month now, mainly looking at 93-97 F250s and F350s. I love the looks of those trucks, HAD to have 4 wheel drive, air cruise and all that, and wanting a 3/4 or 1 ton ex cab long box that was the obvious choice. every thing in my budget was junk, just junk. Found a NICE looking 96 chevy ex cab long box, that need a trans that i was hot for but effing craigslisters don't know how to return phone calls or emails. Found a really nice looking f250, had a showing scheduled and the guy scheduled another guy before me and he bought it. By the time the guy with this truck http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/gmc-3...item2c6144d82f finally answered his phone, it was only to tell me he sold it the day before. Truck was listed on CL for $2400. Found a f150, stick six, ex cab, long box, 4x4 I was ready to go look at it and figured if i could lowball the guy and get it for less than a paycheck I'd buy it. Yesterday at work the craigslist app dinged on my phone and this popped up. Called the guy, set up a time, looked at it, drove it and bought it. 1990, 454/th400, 4x4. Drives pretty good, does need some repairs and tlc (doughnut gasket, fuel leak, tires, brake issues.) Interior is a little rough but it has air/cruise/tilt/windows/locks. Gonna keep my eyes open for a burban getting parted out to redo the interior. Needs a drivers door (dents may pull out, but i doubt it.) Passenger door dent should pop out., a little rot in the cab corners and the drivers rocker needs replacing. A little rust over the wheel wells, but the passenger rear corner is stoved in, into the hinge area, so a rust free bed is in my sights. For a 22 year old Wisconsin truck, it's really solid, and a good place to start. Always wanted one of these, so I jumped on it. And the money was right. |

Re: FNG here...
Thanks. Square chevys are very hard to find here. Even ones that are decent drivers are few and far between. I jumped on this crew cab!

Re: FNG here...
Thanks for the welcomes! Yeah, dents are better than rust. And **** up here rusts bad. Never done body work that wasn't bolting a door/fender/bumper on. Rocker should be an easy fix, cab corners don't look hard either. Flopping a bead on should be a no brainier. Truck is sitting at my dads house, needing fuel tanks is kinda ****ing up my whole world. Tanks are an east find, but I need brackets too. Is getting cold fast and it wont fit into my garage, may end up paying some one to put a fuel tank in it. Being a mechanic for a living the thought of paying some one to work on my **** kinda irks me.

Re: FNG here...
It's hard to find a 22 year old chevy truck that doesn't have dents or some rust. I feel for you guys that live in states where they salt the roads. My 83 Scottsdale was a barn find, it had no dents, no rust and hadn't been driven in a couple of years with a little over 100K on it. These are rare finds, most square bodies around here show there age.

Re: FNG here...
Really? This ad had no pictures and I scooped it like 12 hours after the ad posted. And I got it for (I think) cheap.
