Well the name of this comes from my buddy Jeff. I stoped by his house after getting my custom plates and he said, I see you finally got the weed wacker going.

I bought this truck off my brother-in-law sight un-seen for $900. On the trip home the tired old 350 threw a rod through the oil pan. So after a ride home on the rollback here is what i had sitting at home, a 1988 3+3 Silverado with an ugly flat bed on it.

After selling the extremely over built flat bed, I removed the front clip. This was done so that I could work on it in my garage, 23ft of truck in a 25ft deep garage makes for a fun time on an engine swap.

After pulling the motor I purchased a freshly rebuilt TBI 350 out of my buddys rolled 94. I also picked up stainless headers for an 88-94 pickup.

I had to mod the drivers side header and the frame just a little for needed clearance. On the header I moved the O2 sensor to the bottom side and pluged the original hole.

My brother was getting ready to scrap this so I gave him $75 for it. It is not the best but it's better than frame rails.

Man that thing looks rough. What are your plans for the truck? You converting it to a SRW or going to keep it a dually?

Around here that is a decent square body. I am convertind it to srw and lifting it for 35's at a min. The license plate is a hint for the rest of my conversion.

I wish I could find a 4x4 Crew cab dually for $900, pretty much cant even buy the front axle for that price around here. I think you did pretty good on it. Cant wait to see it. Im a sucker for 4x4 crew cabs.

Ok Matt, here she sits with a bed and front tins. I borrowed the front tire from my brother to get her out of the garage, while it was getting the motor swapped my buddy bought the dually rims that were on it.

Looking good man. Does it not take very much work to put a 73 front clip on an 88? I know it is a lot of work to do visa versa.

It takes a little work. I drilled the spot welds out of the top mounting brackets and re-welded the 88 brackets to the 73 fenders. The wiper posts need swaped out and you need to move the body mount brackets for the radiator support.

Since you asked, I took one of the hubs to work and turned it down. The threaded holes will be drilled out to except studs. The rear will be swaped to a 14 bolt when it gets lifted.

I got tired of the multi colored truck sitting in the drive, so she got a rattle can job for peace of mind.
I also put 08 Jeep Wrangler headlights in and ran them to relays.

Picked up a set of 4" lift springs for the front and 6 35x13.5x15 BFG Krawler TA's from my buddy for $800. I got the front springs installed and ground down the massive calipers to run a 15" rim on a Dana 60. Here is how she is sittin now, I'm going to do a shackle flip on the rear.

Thanks guys. It has been alot of work (for a 1 man build) but thinking outside of the box is the key.

Ok, today I ground all the rivits off of the rear hangers and then cut them in half. I then flipped the bottom part upside down, welded them back together and added gussets. The crew doesn't have the cali lean going on any more, but I think it needs to go a little higher.

I just scored an AAM 10.5 out of my buddy's 04' 2500HD for $300 plus my Dana70. I love having friends that think everything should have old school solid axles and six tires under it.
