'75-'79 Nova subframe
I know a lot of guys say this subframe is too wide for an AD truck (47-54), but I know of at least one guy that is running one without any problems. Is there any stock wheels with the correct offset that can be used, or has anyone narrowed one? The reason I ask is because I have two of them I got for free. One was an old concourse, and the other a plain jane nova. I read that this sub is the same as the '75-'81 Camaro, so examples using that could work too. I really don't want to buy any narrow control arms or anything. Just using what I have and trying to keep the money in my pocket.

Re: '75-'79 Nova subframe
Having installed a 69 Nova subframe under my 53 3100, the mistake I made was building it to low! Make sure the wheels are centered in the opening, I went a little bit longer on the wheelbase. I'm running 215/75x15 on 15x7 rallys. My front bumper has 6" clearance from the ground, and the tires will rub on a sharp turn. If I had a do over, I raise it 2" and shorten the wheelbase 1". Just my 2 cents.

Re: '75-'79 Nova subframe
The front steer Subframe is a bit wider than the rear steer unit that Yakimabowtie used on his. I ran a 68/69 subframe on the 48 with 72 MonteCarlo disks at one time with 14x7 wheels. The truck was very low in those days and I didn't have a rubbing problem. I only ran 195-70 / 14 tires though. 15 inchers may have rubbed.

Re: '75-'79 Nova subframe
The wheel offset is pretty important as well as getting the wheel centered. I have a 70 camaro om my 52. the mock up looked good but if I do have problems I can narrow it up with shorter a arms or widening a set of fenders.

You can buy positive offset wheels I had 6inch wheels with a 4inch backspacing and 205-70/15 tires with a nova front end

Re: '75-'79 Nova subframe
Thanks for the input everyone. Does anyone have pictures of this setup, maybe using the '75-'81 Camaro? I wasn't planning on running large wheels because I want to drive it a lot and I want it to ride comfortably (cheaper wheels and tires too). i like the look of painted smoothies, rallys, cragers, and torque thrusts. Wouldn't shortened control arms have negative effects on geometry? I thought the better approach would be to narrow the entire subframe before the install. Has anyone done that? Keep the info coming!

This is a 1972 Nova clip I installed on a 1954 Advanced Design. This clip works great for the Advanced Design trucks imo.
