1969 Chevy 396 CST 2wd to 4wd Conversion
I have a 1969 Chevy 396 CST Truck with Factory Rear Leaf Springs and would like to convert to a 4wd Truck.
I have a Donor 4wd Frame that was stretched with spring mounts and both axles that I believe is a blazer frame? How can I verify what it actually is? Has anyone used the (FGB52) Kit by DIY4X? It is designed for 52" Springs. Is this the correct spring length to use in this conversion? Here is the link: http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?rout...product_id=122 There are alot of threads on successful conversions and since the Truck already has the Rear Leafs from the Factory, is this C10 Frame a good fit for a conversion to a K10 Frame Set-Up? Any help or links to other treads/post would be helpfull. There is a alot of information here and looking for good advice before I jump in with both feet. |

Does anyone know if the Blazer Axles are the same as the K10 Trucks?

Re: 1969 Chevy 396 CST 2wd to 4wd Conversion
I was wanting to use the blazer front axle if was interchangeable for the 2wd conversion on the 69 CST Truck......
I don't know alot about the conversion process and I havn't had any luck in finding a good 4wd Frame to use other than the one I have which I think was originally a Blazer Frame lengthened to the Truck Length? I bought it mainly for the rust free cab someone had put on the rolling chasis...... I need alot of help on this project and setting up the front suspension will be the hardest part I'm thinking??? |

Post this in the 4wd section. There have been a few that can help you in this process there. Trevor

Yes, both the trucks and blazers used Dana 44, the 8 lug HD trucks used a HD Dana 44. 69-70 had drums on the front and 71-72 used discs.
