Ram air setup

I just got done setting it up. Still needs paint and screens over the intakes so litter and birds don't get sucked in. I'm using a Camaro HO dual snorkel air cleaner with a truck lid and K&N filter. The tubing is all from Spectre. I'm going to wire up a vacuum switch to the wipers so when they are on, the thermacs are closed and rain wont get sucked in.

Re: Ram air setup

how you plan on gettin air in the engine with the thermacs shut? i dont think youll have a problem with water getting in while driving in the rain even with them open.

Re: Ram air setup

Looks nice and factory even You may want to put a flat surface covering the direct intake of bugs and so on. I wouldn't worry about the moisture being mounted that high. I have seen an older police cruiser with the air intake mounted below the bumper. That worked well until the officer tried to go through a small stream. It sucked up the small stream into the engine and bent every rod in the engine. But being mounted that high you wont have a problem, in fact moist air makes more power and economy.

I did a little trickory to my dad's car years ago by putting a sponge just outside the air filter element and kept it moist with a small water pump. It did increase his fuel mileage on a long trip (72 Duster 318 cu in. 24.5 mpg @75 -80 mph. California to Texas with the AC on).

Re: Ram air setup

Take the thermacs out completely to get better air flow I did a one side ram air with the stock system. Getting rid of all the baffles and flaps plus cutting the plastic piece on the core support. Did quite good thing for the 305

Also the smoother the tubing you use the better the air flow.
