Mi. Shock upgrade for o4 Sierra ext. cab 4x4
Looking at replacing the stock shocks on my 04 GMC Sierra ext. cab 4x4 Pickup. Only 20,000 miles on the originals, but they just look wimpy. Anybody got any advice here?

Bilstein 5100s are great. Huge difference on my 05.

Any advice on what Bilstiens to get for stock setup? Looked, but most are for a lifted setup.

If your truck is stock use the 0-2 inch models. The shocks on your truck are the droop bump stops. There is a little more travel available and the bilsteins are designed a tiny bit longer to allow more travel. If your torsion bars are cranked up and you get alot of rough rebound going over speed bumps these will smooth it out alot.

Another vote for bilsteins. After running a few different shocks and then Bilsteins, I will never run anything but.
BTW if yours is a Z71 the stock shock should be Bilsteins, although the aftermarket 5100s will have slightly different valving, and available in a zinc coated finish rather than the blue/yellow. Also as edhtrd71 mentioned the stock shocks are about 1/2" too short in the factory application, although not actually the "droop stops". Someone at GM dropped the ball on those as the shock does top out before the suspension droops to the actual droop stops. Bilstein's 0-2" shocks are just a tad longer and allow those stops to do their job correctly.
