Has anyone ever updated the door striker/latch to late model ones?
I think we have discussed this before about the design not being that great..
I had a mid 60s Dodge truck that the drivers side door wouldnt stay closed and used the door handles / latches and striker from a mid 70s GM car , the straight bar type like on an Impala .... they worked great .. if I did something like that on the 63 I would want to stay with the original button/handle ... |

Re: Has anyone ever updated the door striker/latch to late model ones?
I was thinking of switching out the latch systen on my 61 for one off of a 64-5-6...
it seems like the 4-5-6 latches work pretty good. I took a look at the cabs and the jambs are a little different where the striker is, so you would have to section out part of the cab and door...

Re: Has anyone ever updated the door striker/latch to late model ones?
I've seen many magazine articles on installing Bear Claw latches, but never on a 60-66. The seem nice and are of modern design, but I've never actually met anyone that had them installed so I don't know how well they work or hold up.
