panel bumper swap

65 C10 Panel, Will a Fleetside SWB PU rear bumper physically fit a 65 panel? I mean physically bolt on, but not factory correct. A buddy has a new SWB PU bumper and brackets I can have. I planned on moving the lic down off the door to the bumper anyway.

Probably, with some frame mods.

Re: panel bumper swap

My understanding is that the C10 SWB panel uses the SWB PU chassis so I thought it might fit. The bracket holes should be there as GM had already gone to a universal use parts scheme by the mid sixties for the most part. The body overhang is the same as a SWB Feetside PU as we already checked that.

Re: panel bumper swap

the main issue is that the fleet bumper is flat, wheras the panel bumper is curved like the front. it will probably fit onto the rear frame horns, but expect it to be away from the body on the ends

Re: panel bumper swap

It's basically the same frame, but with a few inches added right at the back. A truck front bumper is closer.

if you want the plate notch in the bumper. cut it out of the fleet rear and graft it into a front bumper, that would make for a better fit.
