What now?

Well people i am kinda stuck. i have a thousand things i want to do to my truck (found here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=438235 )but, i dont know what to start doing next. this is my first attempt at a classic and i dont have piles of money to throw at it so i need to do it roght the first time. as you can see from the build thread i have already got the front brakes/suspension done. now i have a "master plan" of what i want to end up with but i dont know what would be the next "best" step.
for instance;
i want to convert the rear to disc brakes but my back plates are pressed
i want to rewire the truck (probably with a custom Ron Francis set up)
i want the body squared up (rockers etc..and under carriage repaired)
i want to have it painted (color is still up in the air)
i want the rear suspension brought down to match the front (4in springs arent doing it)
i want the 350 stroked to 383
i want a 6 speed
i want new seats (the silverado ones with the seat belt in them and middle console seat for my son)
i want the gas tank moved to the rear
i want a stereo (i have it all planned out already.. i used to be an installer before i enlisted in the USAF)

as you can see there are a ton things i want to do but i am not sure what the best order of business would be. so i am looking to those of you that have a custom rebuilds under your belt to help guide me. Uncle Sam pays good but not that good. Thanks

1. Chassis including suspension, steering & brakes.

2. Electrical

3. Body work (at least blocked out and in primer) and fuel tank relocation.

4. Engine & trans

5. Painted

6. Interior & stereo

Re: What now?

Get it running and safe. Get a plan and do things that you can do in a weekend or so, so you can drive it and enjoy between upgrades.

Re: What now?

Get the stereo first. Then you can listen to tunes while you are doing the rest of the work. (Just kidding)

Re: What now?

the truck is mechanically sound, the trans leaks a little (needs a rebuild or seals at least) but not enough to cause any worry, the power steering gearbox leaks a little, again not enought to cause worry. other than that it doesnt leak or burn oil, it gets decent gas mileage considerng what it is.

The more you keep it drivable, the more motivated you will be to keep up with it. The longer it's down for the higher your risk of turning it into an unfinished project that you eventually get tired of and sell.

If it were me (IMO ) #1, #2, #10 ,#3, #5, #8, #9, #6, #7, #4, guessing your doing all the work, this order would minimize downtime, in some cases none at all, what rear axle has pressed on backing plates.

the 63 has pressed on backplates. i am looking for a 64-69 in dencent shape to re-gear, clean up and install since that year range is the same width.
