lowering c10 1970, same shocks?

I bought some lowering springs on CL, but may have been misrepresented. Said they would drop 5" all around with simple install...no spindles needed. So I called a shop and they told me no springs were ever made to drop the truck front 5". I don't know how much these springs will drop the front now. Is there a way to find out? The only thing I could see on the spring looks like 160700??? Sound familiar to anyone? Also, can I use the same shocks or do I need to get shorter ones or any particular kind? I hope this doesn't turn into a huge debacle. I tried to see if there was already a thread for this, but can never get the search to work right and I get thrown all over the web even if I check 67-72...some help on that would be useful too.
Thanks!!!

3" front
6" rear

These are the largest amount of drop offered with springs only.
Yes you would need to run drop shocks.
The rear would also need a set of shock relocators and an adjustable track bar to make everything work correctly.

If you want the front lower,... you will have to add drop spindles.

So what shocks would I need and can I get them at autozone etc? 3 would be ok as long as i don't need the spindles.
Shock relocator and adj track bar a must? At auto zone as well or place locally I can get that?
Thanks!!!

The shocks you will need are called drop shocks and I doubt you will find them at auto zone etc.Check with the board vendors on this site and speak with them and they will tell you what you need.(Some of them are located in TX)Also do you have a pic of the springs that you purchased,do all 4 look the same, small coil on both ends?...Mike.

Cool, I will check with them.
I don't have a pic. They are with the truck at the shop getting some paint touch ups. The rear ones are the fatter, looser coil...the front are the skinny taller tighter coils.

Good deal, when you said you purchased a 5" drop coil on all 4 corners I thought maybe they sold you 4 rear coils....Mike.

Re: lowering c10 1970, same shocks?

Let me give you a little bit of advice. If you buy stock front shocks for the front and install them on the rear you now have 5" drop rear shocks. I looked in the CPP catalog and the part number for the rear 5" drop shocks is the SAME part number for the front stock shocks. I did this on my 72 and they work perfectly. Just went down to Oreillys and bought some Monroe stock front shocks for like $20 each and saved some money.

My mom always had the best advice. It was just a tad late. After a fall that involved blood, she'd say....."Careful!"

What did you end up putting up front for shocks?
