Bench seat question
I have a 1971 Chev truck and want to replace the buckets and console with a bench. Do I have to stay with a 67 to 72 bench or will the mid to late 70's seats bolt right in?

the late 80's early 90's split bench works very well.

Just so no one rips you off...or even worse, so you don't throw them away, the buckets and console are worth quite a bit of coin.

I have a mid-90s Silverado bench in my 68. It does NOT bolt right in. But all I had to do was drill 4 holes in the flat area under the stock bench. It is a very comfortable seat, especially on long trips. The newer seats are solid foam - no springs - and therefor give much better support. Purists won't like my answer, but to each his own. Try different seats before you choose one.
The stock buckets and console are worth some bucks to someone doing a resto. Good luck. Scott

Long horn mail thanks I do know the value of what I am taking out of the truck and they'll be tucked away in the basement for later. Right now I need the truck to seat myself and 2 blondes.

I've got a 1999 Suburban middle seat; had to drill most of the holes and cut on the stock brackets a little bit, but I think it's one of the best deals going - I got mine for $150. Part of the center seatback folds down to be the center console.

I have a 94 60/40 split bench seat in my 72, Had to drill holes, but the brackets almost fit perfect, had to build a spacer for the inside bracket of the passenger side 60 seat. They look really good, mainly because of the headrests.
good luck

2 blondes eh??? is that your wife and your daughter heheh kidding!! I am going with a similar swap. I started out with a factory bench, then traded for a set of buckets, but never installed them. But now I stumbled across some seats from a 98 Dodge Ram that has the fold down console in the middle, so now I will be sticking with those
