seam sealer

Getting ready to put the seam sealer back in around the roof channel. Any tips or techniques from the professionals. It sounds easy but should I use some tape to get a clean edge. I have heard dipping your finger in paint thinner will help smooth it out as you go??

My build 64C10: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=439559

Re: seam sealer

I've heard of the thinner trick and used it many years ago;turned out well. Just did my '66 last year and gooped it in without caring too much and it turned out ok. Dont try to recoat without it drying, Ive found. Used a different type on my 'burb about a month ago and its sandable, so its easy to feather into the roof. It will also be covered with primer.

I've tried using latex gloves but the drip edge always cuts the gloves. It makes a nice bead, though. Generally, I would try to use plenty of product and clean up the mess to get the nicest looking surface. I had issues when it got too thin and I 'ran out' of sealer while sliding my finger through the groove.

I'm not a professional, by the way.

Re: seam sealer

Fuzor self leveling seam sealer is the best I've used for drip rail seams. Just prep it and apply it and it smooths itself out.

Here's a YouTube vid that shows the process.
