What seats are you using
Ive seen occasional threads asking whether or not this seat or that seat will fit certain year trucks. I would like to see anyone who has changed seats answer in this thread--what seat youre using, bench or bucket, how easy or how hard it was to get it to fit.
If you have pics to share, all the better. Mine are currently out of a late 70's trans am (?) supposedly. They arent too bad for comfort, but in my case the installation was terrible and will take some rework on brackets if I decide to keep them. |

Re: What seats are you using
Here's what I'm using. Lowback buckets out of a mid 90's Silverado. Install was very simple- just drilled 4 new holes w/ 3x3x1/4" backing plates, grade 8 bolts and voila' new seats.

Re: What seats are you using
The seats that came with my'71 C/10 look like captains chairs out of a van. YUCK !!! Looks like crap and the gas tank just exposed looking shiney. I was hoping someone had a solid lead on a junkyard cure that fits and covers the gas tank so the wife doesn't freak every time she rides in it. Maybe a Blazer with buckets and a console. Something has to work and cover up the gas tank.

Re: What seats are you using
Thanks LedZepp, great info on the carpet cover. Looked over your rebuilding thread and looks like some nice work you are doing. I noticed your steel wheels and was wondering what size they were? I would love to find some 15x7or8" steel wheels that would take the dog dish econo caps? Got to be a junkyard code to find them. They look to be 4 3/4" bolt circle. Anyway thank you

Re: What seats are you using
I am using a bench out of a '95/96 Ford F350. I paid $25 bucks for it at a swap meet then paid $300 to have it recovered. install was pretty easy, front bracket needed a pie shaped cut out of it then re weld. only took two hours to get it fully installed.

Re: What seats are you using
I just picked these up off craigslist this weekend, including the 3 point seat belts it was $120. Its the 60/40 split middle seat of a 99 chevy tahoe that had been wrecked and is in excellent condition. I will need to make some brackets to get them to fit to the existing floor but they are much more comfortable than the original bench and gives me an armrest/cupholders and a little under seat storage.

Re: What seats are you using
yep, still have the gas tank in the cab and don't plan to move it anytime soon. The seats are only temporarily fitted at present until I get time to fit them properly. I am 5 feet 8, and there is enough room for me to fit nicely. The one issue is that they do not slide so the position I fit them is what I have, cannot slide it closer or further from the wheel unless I make some mods to add runners.

Re: What seats are you using
I am using the original type buddy buckets. Wouldn't have it any other way...unless I found a great deal on something else.

Re: What seats are you using
I also have a 2nd row seat in tan leather from a '98 Tahoe. It isn't installed yet, but Putter had a post about the installation. As for me, I'm gonna put my gas tank under the bed, to get it out of the cab and make some more room. I ditto the lack of adjustability, but a set of leather seats for a buck and quarter was too good to pass up.
I am going to color my seats using red and black colorant. The people who have it don't call it dye. Okay, I get it.

Re: What seats are you using
If you have a link to the putter install thread I would appreciate it. May give me some ideas on the install.
Thanks Jay
