Bought a parts truck finally!

Saw this half of a 66 C10 on a local classified. It was cut under the cab years ago, and the cab is SHOT. Im surprised the rearview mirror is still hanging since its rusted out all around it. Has lights, no gauges, radio delete, trim on both sides, and the best part is that this truck was an automatic and it still has the column. Has a great radiator support, cowl, cowl panels etc. I saw the auto steering column and went to take a look and to my surprise it has a cherry passenger door that i have been needing. Also came with an early 60s hood as well. Will be parting it out here shortly when I have stuff I need. Should be quite a few parts going up for sale. Let me know what you guys think of the score.

Cool, I'm looking at maybe getting a parts truck. All I want off of it is the engine, transmission, axles, and transfer case.

Grats on that! I missed out on a similar one a couple of weeks ago. I look forward to seeing some of those parts on the Parts Board.

I was looking around in the cab today and found the build sheet in the glove box, and this truck was a factory 327 V8, deluxe air controls, radio delete, with trim option. Unique truck, wish i could have met it in its prime.

Re: Bought a parts truck finally!

I saw that on craigslist at least a year (maybe more) ago when I was looking for a cab, it came out of ark city. The guy made a truck bed trailer out of it.

morbidly I am glad it is rusted away because I missed it on craigslist and always wondered what shape it was in.

Looks like a lot of good parts there. I have never seen a horn button like that before, interesting. Joseph

Re: Bought a parts truck finally!

Haha yeah the cat are everywhere, theyre supposed to be keep the mice population down in out shed. But i think they've made friends with them instead. And joedoh, you didnt miss much on the cab, though I did find an Oklahoma license plate in there from 79. When i got there to look at it for the second time when he hada tractor there i asked to look under it and he flipped it straight up on the back of the cab. Made it a good negotiation factor. I was mainly just looking for a good passenger door and the auto column was a must. I like finding out cool facts about these old things. Its got great glass that will probably be coming up for sale as soon as I can get it off the trailer and somewhere where theres not a foot of snow.

Here is what it was as far as i can gather so far:
66 C10
Custom Appearance? (just has the trim ont he sides but not a custom cab)
Automatic with 327
Deluxe air controls
Long bed
Radio delete
No gauge cluster
