Best place for a 390 holley?
Hey just wondering if anyone knows of a carb shop or anywhere else to get a 390 holley besides ordering one from summit. I'm in the san diego, so cal area. I have a 65 sb that has a muncie 4 speed and a 230 with a offenhauser intake and headers set up for a 390 any leads would be appreciated I want to get that thing running alread I can't wait to go cruising. I have a pretty clean fleetside tailgate and a really solid bare metal 65 grill if any one could do a partial trade on the carb.... I also have a sandblasted stock manifold and a single barrel that came with a rebuilt kit but doesnt look like it was finished. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area Im new to the site and the c10. Love the trucks thanks for all the awsome info and all your trucks and build ups are so inspiring and thank you guys again.

Not sure if this will help but I have been looking into a new carb for a '57 Chevy. I found out the other day that Car Quest can send it in to be rebuilt for about 1/2 the cost of a new one so you might give them a call.

Be patient and check the swap meets and flea markets, I bought mine for 10 bucks from a guy who brought it in to the scrap yard I work at. I soaked it in chem dip and it looks like new!

Re: Best place for a 390 holley?
Isn't that a two barrel number 4412 that's used on GMC V6 upgrade. Is the 390 holley a 4 barrel right?

I think he is saying that the 4412 pictured is a 2 barrel... which is correct.
For a new 390 4 barrel you're best bet is going to be Summit or Jeg's probably. |

Re: Best place for a 390 holley?
Oh I thought he was asking if the 390 pertaining to my question was a 4 barrel. I know summit has one for around 360 dollars . I was hoping to find a cheap used one that I could rebuild myself or get sent to be rebuilt. I also noticed the 4412 was just an example of where I might be able to find good deal on a carb if I keep my eyes open. 10 dollars is a steal for any holley. Thanks for clearing that up for me buddy.

Re: Best place for a 390 holley?
There are two different aftermarket 390's, one for 4 and 6 cylinder engines, the other for V8. Make sure you get the right one.
I usllay use a 600 for ain inline 6, not the 390's. They also make a small spread bore cfm carb that is a replacement for a Q-Jet, 450 cfm, great carb for an inlne engine. |

Re: Best place for a 390 holley?
Thanks yeah I was wondering about that I noticed on ebay there was a lot of 390 holleys that had circle track and nascar in there descriptions asking a lot of money so those must be for the 8s. So you don't think 600 cfm is too much for the little 230ci the only reason I asked about a 390 is that's what the po had in it and said it ran great. Thanks for the tip! I would have hate to find that out after pushing the buy now button.

Re: Best place for a 390 holley?
It seems like those Holley 8007, 390 cfm carbs bring top dollar even in a needing rebuilt condition. I have come to the conclusion, the used ones just aren't worth the money they bring, and a guy is better off trying to find the best buy on a new one. By the time you pay $200-250.00 for a builder, buy the kit, and then spend your time rebuilding it, you're into it almost as much as a new one. I recently bought a factory refurbished one directly from Holley, on ebay for $287.00 plus shipping. IIRC shipping was about $27-28.00.They have one on there now for $299.00 plus shipping.
