AC Control Quality?

I am going to need to replace the AC dash control on my Blazer. Anyone have any experience with the counterpart brand repop? Any others out there? Recommendations?

Re: AC Control Quality?

I would look for an OEM one here on the parts board, or put a want-to-buy ad on the parts board. Teeitup or Tkorinek would probably have one.

Re: AC Control Quality?

What is a used one worth? I say "used" because I have an extra one. Can't swear that all is well. My truck had an auxillary switch on it to engage the clutch on the compressor. It could have been a problem elsewhere, but it's the original '69 AC/Heat controller from my truck. I won't be running factory air since I had to replace my air cab with a non-air cab. Yep, sux to be me, huh?

Re: AC Control Quality?

Do not buy counter part! You will hate it. I bought one from the the Truck Shop and was highly disappointed. I could not spend $250 fast enough for an NOS one. I went back and looked at receipt, was $160 plus S&H and included a new switch on fleabay.

Re: AC Control Quality?

I have two oem. They both need rebuilding and both of the face plates have been off before, which means most of the tabs are gone. Can't decide whether to just order the new arms and rebuild or buy a repop. I am not real interested in paying $250-300 for an NOS as I am not sure that the arms will hold up any better than the originals I have had break. I was hoping the Counterpart repop was viable. What was the problem with it Lee H?

Re: AC Control Quality?

The last GM one I bought from the local chevy house was $127 with a discount.

Rebuild the one you have, it's not too hard, I did it.

Re: AC Control Quality?

Sameyrasmea- Never thought that they would still be available. I'll do some checking tomorrow.
67ChevyRedneck- I have replaced arms before myself. The face plate retention tabs were made to be bent about once, that's why most break off. I was interested in starting out with a fresh new unit if it was any good, that's why I was wondering about other's experiences with it (counterpart).

Re: AC Control Quality?

I found that part # on GMpartsdirect.com for $118 + S&H. You have to drop the zero for it to come up in their search engine. 1222890 There's no pic and all it says is "CONTROL."

That's pretty cool they're still available.

That's cool! They also list the switch #3857992 for $10.32 each, in a 2 pack. Looks like I'll be placing an order for future use.

Re: AC Control Quality?

I found the same thing, put one in "my cart" and tried to check out to no avail as it disappeared from the cart each time. I'll try during business hours, but I have a sneaking suspicion it isn't available. I know it will work for 65 and 66 Impalas, but didn't know of any others.
