6 banger to a V8 frame question
I just bought a SWB frame that I was told had a 6 banger in it. After I removed the cab I notied that there were what looks like partial cross members in front of the tranny cross member. What are they for? Also what other issues will I have going from a 6 to a V8? I already have the motor mounts from my CST20 Longhorn what else will I need to keep from it?
Thanks, Mike

It sounds like someone put an automatic in it and cut the center out of the manual trans cross member. I couldn't find a picture of one but the manual trans mounts were on the bell housing. As far as what to keep from the longhorn, I would keep it all until I was done with the swap... LockDoc

Re: 6 banger to a V8 frame question
To add to what Leon said...I believe the manual tranny x-member was riveted in....auto tranny x-members were bolted in....
If you are going with auto tranny....maybe different driveshaft length too
