Crank?
I have a crank that was supposed to be for a 53 Chevy car, when I got it I found that it was way different. I don't have any experience with the older engines but was told it was a babbit crank. It is new with new rods, is there any need for these? I was told by 1 person that it was just a expensive boat anchor.

Re: Crank?
If its new it certainly has some value. What is it for? What casting number is it?

From memory, I think a 53 Chevy car would have had a babbit crank if it did not have a PowerGlide tranny. If it doesn't fit your engine you might have a later model engine or an engine that came in a car with PowerGlide. I think this was the last year for any babbit cranks and all 54's had inserts. |

Re: Crank?
It is a power glide trans. So maybe that is why it was on the one I needed

Re: Crank?
If it is new it is either worth cash or some good trading material with one of the guys running a stock engine of that year and model. You have to figure out exactly what it is and then hit the right market though.
