6 to V8 swap

I am doing a I6 to V8 swap in my 69. Do I need to get new perches that the motor mounts bolt to, or are they they same? Also is there different front crossmember that I can replace the stock one that has everything already on it(like control arms and disk brakes). I see there is one available for the 55-57 Chevy trucks , but not a 67-72.

the motor mount brackets that bolt to the frame are different.I've been told your front end is the same as the 1971--72 disc brake front ends so all you need to do is find a 1971--87 front ends and Rip all of the Spindles tie rods pit men arm and dialer arm off and buy new Ball joints

Most people will say just pull your front end off and swap it But if your front end dose not have a alinement problems Keep what you have they did not change that front end from 1967--72 and i like knowing i can take apart my front end in my own drive way and rebuild it with out a press.Make sure you buy MOOG front end parts that all have Zerk fittings.

You will need V8 front springs unless your just going to buy the hole kit that has lowering spindles springs and brakes it might be cheaper in the long run.

ONE LAST THING WHY ARE YOU SWAPPING THE INLINE 6 IS THE MOTOR BLOWN UP OR JUST TIRED

I have a 1968 Longhorn with the 8 1/2 foot bed and i'm converting it to 1/2 ton and putting a 250 inline 6 in mine with a 700R4 or a 200R4 that is a over drive trans meaning 4 gears instead of 3 better MPG I using a rear end of of a 1977 1/2 ton putting in a 3.55 posi gear.my truck came with a 396 and 400.

But i put that combo in my 1971 nova.

My 1968 had Air power steering and power brakes but no disc So i got a set of spindles off a 1977 1/2 ton and i'm going to use them.

A guy on eBay has a AC bracket kit for the 250 inline 6 that will even clear the HEI distributor for 139.00 i have to use a different AC pump but there like 69.00 but at least i will have AC in my 1968 1/2 ton truck with my disc brakes

The 6 is old and tired. I had a hopped up 6 in my 65 Nova in high school that ran 15+ in the 1/4 mile. I have always wanted a v8, parts are easier to come by and cheaper. Plus a guy at work gave me a 350 4bolt so I have something to start with.

When going from an I6 to a V8 you can go 2 ways. The correct way is to get the correct V8 perches and move forward to the V8 holes. or you can use the I6 perches in the back (original) holes but the distributor will be tight against the fire wall.

I hate I6 to V8 conversions that were not moved forward. Crowded distributors and lots of space between engine and radiator look like crap!

I am doing just the opposite, going from a old and tired 327 to a rebuilt 250, using the same motor mount brackets but moving them to the back holes and drilling out new single down hole.

I have a 1971 C20 with a 250 I6 with a 3 on the tree. I went to rebuild the 250 and found out it had a crack in the block in an unrepairable place. So I bought a trashed 1981 C-10 with a good 350. I should be getting my V8 perches in the mail soon and it looks like I might be able to use the block mounts from the 6 on the 350. The flywheel and clutch should just bolt onto the 350.

My question is whether I need to buy new fuel line and tank sending unit. LMC and Classic chevy show that there is a different sending unit for the in cab fuel tank between the 6 and 350. I know the fuel pump is different between 71 and 81 and I might need to replace that, but I'm not sure about the line and sending unit. I only reason I can see why it might need new lines is if the 350 needs a thicker fuel line for the added pressure and fuel consumption.

Any info would be appreciated.

I didn't do anything with my fuel sending unit when upgraded to v8, i'm using 83 305 with the correct mechanical fuel pump for 83.

I know I didn't run new fuel lines but it was a very long time ago that I switched and I don't remember exactly what I did, but here's what it looks like now.
