UH-Oh ive got a brake thats stuck

Ok so i go to pump gas in my truck today and when leaving the pump i notice it is a bear to get to move like i had a brake locked up I have had this issue 2x before but it always broke free or felt like it did atleast and then i went on well i get home and i am looking around the truck at some other things and i notice smoke coming from the passenger side so i pop the hood thinking this could be an engine problem but its not upon further inspection i find it to be coming from my front right drum now. This sucks now i am going to have to get outside in the cold and the wind and figure out what is going on. does anyone have any clue what could cause a brake to do that i am looking on ideas maybe what to look for specifically but then again it could just jump out at me when i pull the drum. who knows i have never had this happen to me before so any input would be appreciated guys.

Re: UH-Oh ive got a brake thats stuck

my front drivers side was locking up when i stepped on the brakes ,it ended up being a leaking wheel cylinder, best thing to do is take the drum off and investigate, what ever i replace on one side i usually do on the other side just because.

im kinda wondering about that wheel cylinder, i have already ordered all new brake hardware to put in that side and i have a brand new wheel cylinder for it laying around. I just recently went through the entire brake system and on all 4 corners and installed all new lines the whole shebang i just am not motivated to do it right now as i have no garage and it is cold and windy outside today lol

Krazy Texan:
Mine did something similar. It was the lining on one of the bonded shoes that came loose and wedged itself against the remaining shoe. Smell when it did so was very distinctive smell of burning brake lining.

Hope this helps.
