Two Question's for the pro's
1 st question,
4X4 SHOCKS ? Do you put the shocks on the truck with the "BOOTS" up or down? 2 nd question, ENGINE COLORS, How many stock colors did the '67-'72 truck have for engine colors? Kind of dumb questions, but I was kind of wondering.

Don't have a 4x4...but It would not make sense to put the boots facing down...they would collect dust and dirt and allow it to get in the shock...so not Boots up...(Never seen one designed for boots down)
Engine color. Hell I was shocked when I returned from Japan in the late 80's and chevy orange was gone. I've never seen any chevy engine prior to early 70's with anything other than Chevy orange. Course I'm only 47....so some may remember the early 50's or 30's and 40's....That is out of my league.

Palf70Step, thanks for the input. A friend of mine said that there was a chevy blue for the motor. But all I could think was ford!
As far as the shocks some one told me to put the boots down, but I never saw any like that before.

My 1969 307 was Chevrolet orange. I thought the blues and greens came later when Chevy forgot its roots.

The blue paint came about when GM started mixing the engines around...Chev in Olds..Olds in buick..etc. They thought if all the engines were blue, no one would know they were pulling a fast one!! Prior to that fiasco orange was the standard color after they dropped grey...but I think that was in the early to mid-fifties.

You got the paint thing squared away but the boots go up. The shocks will puke oil facing down. It'll take a while but my pops did it.

In 57 Chevy had a rare green color on some engines....
Also, the shock boot goes to the top of the shock, they have drain holes in the large end that goes around the shock to drain, but they always clog up and cause the shock shaft to rust. I would through the boots away... Chuck
