Fuel Gauge Not working

Hey all, My fuel gauge is not working. I think my printed circuit is messed up, I was wondering if I could just cut the wires from the adapter and wire it up direct to the gauge instead of going through the circuit. (None of my stock gauges worked except the fuel gauge anyway)

What is the guage doing? Does it go way past full? Mine was doing that and I found the single wire that hooks on the sending unit had a bad connection.

Someone on this board should be able to ship you a complete used dash cluster for what you would pay to repair yours.
I see them all the time at swap meets for $10 to $25.
Start a thread on the parts board.
Want to buy dash cluster with good printed circuit and find one close by to save on shipping or make a trip to the local salvage yard.

Also the bezels are different for some years as some have choke holes in the bezels and some don’t. Then there is the three-hole type with the idiot lights instead of gauges.

Just a thought

Pull your inst panel off, and trace the printed wires from the 2 posts on the back of the guage, to where they go into the harness. If the printed circuit is bad, you'll be able to see it.
I jumped the bad circuit on mine.

When it comes to buying parts check the list of suppliers on the main site.

i've got a 7 hole dash setup with a working printed circuit. All guages work except for the temp guage i think. It might work but i never tried it. You can have it for 20 bucks + shipping... I paid 30 at the yard for it.

What I did was run a mall piece of wire from the nut on the guage, and tucked the other end under the plug on the proper terminal. It was a PITA to do, but I no longer need the broom stick to dip into my tank.

I've seem those little line splicer connectors ... the kind that clip onto the main line and allow another lead to go to the fuel post. You can connect them to the fuse harness line instead of the plug... depend on how secure you want it and if you dare to splice into the harness. Was a time here when tach printed circuits were hard to find. A few years back when when I saw that type fix done.
