Rear fenders on a 51 will they fit?

Hello guys,a friend of mine picked up a very clean and original 51 chev 3/4t longbox recently and he's looking for used rear fenders, now are the short box fenders interchangeable with the long box fenders on those years? The truck still wears it's original paint and except for the rear fenders it is a very straight truck with no rust through anywhere.the rear fenders have more dings and small dents than he wants to deal with and i have heard mixed comments if they will interchange.

Thanks for your help.
Kent.

The 48/53 will interchange with no problems and I think the 54/early 55 will fit.

fenders are the same from 47-55.1, both Chevy and Gmc.

The only thing to look out for is that no long boxes had the spare tire indentation on the driver side rear fender - only short boxes

If the dents are not too big I would just fix the fenders he has. really good Used ones are hard to come by.

he has pondered that thought but one the sides where they are rounded it looks like someone tried to drive into one of the old narrow garages from the 30's and slightly flatened the rounded sides of the fenders, you have to look for it but it's there on both fenders and with the multible dings in them i think you would have as much money into straightening them as purchasing repops.it's a shame because they are rock solid fenders.

has anyone used reproduction fenders and how was the fit and hole location?

Might want to start a new thread on the reproduction fenders
