Fender Bolt tool?

I am thinking about changing out my rear fenders on my 57. I notice that the bolts have a weird slotted pattern on them similar to the door jam door latches. Where can I buy the proper socket to fit these bolts?

Re: Fender Bolt tool?

thanks for the response. By the way, the pic in your aviator looks like it was taken at the Oil Sands in Alberta. I live five hours from there - biggest trucks in the world haul oil soaked sand to the plants.

Could be I swiped it off the net.But I think the ones you have up there are bigger I have seen ones about this size in rock plants that I used to haul boulders out of.

Oh yeah' soak the hell out of them for a couple days with the best penetrating oil you can get.
I like PB blaster but I don't know if you can get it up there.

Re: Fender Bolt tool?

Sometimes you can find the clutch heads at sears and I think they are in the Napa tools catalog.

I'd have to go along with MKnittle in that it's prudent to soak the well with PB Blaster or another good rust penetrate. The PB stinks though so try not to get it on your clothes.

Re: Fender Bolt tool?

I always laugh when the parts houses try to sell you the screwdrivers to take those bolts off. Superman couldn't get those things off with a screwdriver. Get the socket style clutch head bits and soak the bolts with PB Blaster and maybe even warm them up with the torch if they don't want to spin.

Re: Fender Bolt tool?

agree with all on this - i used a small propane torch to heat them up -let it cool then drenched them in PB - - NO PROBS.

I picked up my clutch head bits at a local NAPA store. 1.38 for a 2 pack in 3 sizes.
