Question for guys with Vette IFS
Am thinking about doing a Vette IFS for my 49 Chevy and have a few questions.
My first question concerns the year of the donor. I see the Vettes are grouped into 84-87 and 88-94. Is one more desirable then the other and works better on a AD truck? Basically what makes them different? My second question is what donor parts MUST come from the Vette? Am thinking you really just need the upper and lower A-arms and spindle as everything else is a wearable item and probably needs to be replaced? Also looking for any advice or information you learned along the way about this suspension choice. By the way am leaning towards the Flat out kit. Thanks...Eric

Re: Question for guys with Vette IFS
I 'believe' that the big difference in the c-4 suspensions through the years was the size of brake rotor 84-87 @ 11", 88-94 @ 12" and 95-96 @ 13".
This will determine what size wheels you can use....15" wheels won't work on an 88+, I believe you'll need 17" wheels for the 88-94, larger for 95-96. You're correct on the donor parts, you'll also need a corvette rack. |
