Question 83 GMC front suspension

This is my DD. PO lowered it with a flip kit and i'm not sure about the front. Does anyone have specs on stock front coils and spindles? I'm wanting to cut a little off the coil to drop the front about an inch, any advice on how much to cut? Also the nut size on the lower ball joint would be great, love this website, any help is much appreciated.

The rule of thumb is 1 coil equals 2" of drop. If you want 1" then cut half a coil.

Re: 83 GMC front suspension

Front looks like it's already been lowered a little bit, based on that pic.

Re: 83 GMC front suspension

Well cut off 3/4 of a coil, gave it about the right stance, looks like it had lowering springs to begin with but found out the passenger side wasnt even in the pocket right. Had to take out my rubber bump stop, now it is bumping the mount for it, want to remove but that would remove my steering stop, any advice? Will post pics tomorrow of the drop. Thanks again

Re: 83 GMC front suspension

Before and after pics, bout an inch in between bumpstop mount and control arm, guess i'll have to trim it because it hits with the slightest bump in the road, lesson learned.
