edelbrock 600cfm or 750cfm
so I do have another post going similar too this one but thought I would post this in this section. with my mods and with a daily driver (son driving to school every day) would the 600cfm or 750cfm be a better choice. Mild cam, headers, .30 over on a 72 sb 350... pro vs cons. just thinking the 750 may be too much.... would the 600 run better..... confused

Re: edelbrock 600cfm or 750cfm
i hear you but i am doing away with the q-jet. just want to hear which will be a better fit for a daily driver... the 600 or 750cfm edelbrock. Besides the q-jet is going on a different project

Re: edelbrock 600cfm or 750cfm
If you do go with the 1405/6 600cfm, you may need to rejet/rod it quite a bit for a healthy 350. I would seriously look at the 650 cfm 1805/6 AVS series. I run eddys on all my rides and the 1405 would not feed my 350 in the upper RPMs.

Re: edelbrock 600cfm or 750cfm
600 cfm is a good size for most mild small blocks for daily drivers.

Re: edelbrock 600cfm or 750cfm
I have the Summit Racing 600cfm carb on my 290hp GM350 crate motor. Was a cinch to install, have had no issues. Drove the truck from NH to Wisconsin with no problems what so ever.

Re: edelbrock 600cfm or 750cfm
I have a Eddy 1406 on my 396/350hp from a 68 Chevelle and it works perfectly. It was on the truck when I bought it 10 years ago and I've never touched it. I do not know the engine specs but I think it was rebuilt to factory specs as it runs smooth and perfectly. Anytime I've walked on the truck its never bogged so it supplies enough gas under load for the big block.

Re: edelbrock 600cfm or 750cfm
We went with the 600cfm. Got the manifold and carb installed late yesterday and ran out of day light. Will finish up today with linkage and fuel line, and fire it up. Looks awsome... I will post pictures when finished. thanks all I think your comments helped me decide the 600cfm would be a good fit

Re: edelbrock 600cfm or 750cfm
You'll be way happier with that 600 cfm carb.
Personally I would have used a Holley 1850... Gary

Re: edelbrock 600cfm or 750cfm
I have a buddy that has the holley and begged me to buy it from him.... I might give it a try since he wants to do a trade for some stereo stuff for it.... think it will make a difference over the edelbrock

Re: edelbrock 600cfm or 750cfm
You're gonna get the Holley haters on here to tell you that they have to "constantly be tuned" and run too rich. Which couldn't be any further from the truth. The main "downfall" of a Holley carb is that they might just be too easy to "overtune". The tuneability of the Holley can tend to overwhelm a novice carb tuner. But once they are set correctly... they are just as good (or better) than any "set it and forget it" type of carb.
Personally... ya can't beat 'em. You couldn't GIVE me an Edlebrock/AFB carb. I'd run the ol' Q-jet before I'd use an Edelbrock/AFB carb. Gary

Re: edelbrock 600cfm or 750cfm
Bottom line is there are great success stories and horrible ones with every carb maker out there. Biggest problem is then guys and gals set out to make it run better. They pick up a screwdriver and oh my.........
