hinge straps for stepside tailgate?
1969 stepside here. My tailgate is "latched" closed by pins on chains. When open, the tailgate opens up far enough to hit the bumper. Are there supposed to be some hinge straps or something to keep the tailgate from dropping below horizontal?

Re: hinge straps for stepside tailgate?
Yes you use the pins that keep it "latched" closed to keep it horizontal you hook them into the tabs on the side

Re: hinge straps for stepside tailgate?
A simple solution to a simple problem. I don't know why car maufacturers can't do that today.
