I miss this truck..
I saw a guy pull into Lowes today in a 64 with black plates. It really makes me miss my truck and how I want one for a daily driver.. Then I think abouit the gas mileage and how the heaters don't work so great. Maybe alot of insulation and a new heater would do the trick. I guess I need to sell my Ranger first then. oh boy...

Re: I miss this truck..
Did you get rid of yours? Yeah the gas and cab noise are the killers. All stuff that can be fixed with enough time and money. I have neither at the moment!

Re: I miss this truck..
Never have so few words said so much. I know that I get overwhelmed at times and just have to think about baby steps. I have the luxury of having mine to drive each day, but I find myself wanting it all done NOW!

Re: I miss this truck..
same deal here.. when my '65 was torn down all i wanted to do was get it up and running as soon as i could. i missed it so much i bought a '66 c10 just so i could drive it daily.. little by little ive been getting my '65 up to driving conditions.. like mentioned before, an hour here an hour there will go a long way. plus it keeps the motivation going...

Re: I miss this truck..
Happy to hear that you still have it. The pics of it are great. It's really hard to work on 'em and drive them at the same time. I try to only let mine be down for a week or two at a time which means small projects for me. Base hits man... base hits.

Re: I miss this truck..
Mine is finally driveable, after nearly 10 yrs in the shop. I've actually been surprised at how well the heater works now, and it is much much quieter. I used peel & seal & foil lined jute padding under the OE mat & all across the firewall & back wall, under a repro firewall mat, all new weatherstrip, new heater core etc etc. I've driven it many times in 20* mornings lately, its done fine. I leave the 96GMC home.

Re: I miss this truck..
I am going to have all of next week to work on it. I am going to do something to it. I might even just paint the damn firewall in my garage even though I shouldn't.

Re: I miss this truck..
Yeah I get it. We painted my brother's '64 Goat in my driveway in Redwood City about 15 yrs ago. We started on a Sunday morning at 5:00 and had it pushed back into the garage by 7;00a.m. to hide it. Nevertheless the neighborhood reeked and I think a couple people complained to the cops cuz they were more present than usual. Didn't know it was aginst the law back then but fron the early start time I guess we had a suspicion!

Re: I miss this truck..
I have a 64 just like that one, mostly.
Mine doesnt even have a heater in it. Came without one from the factory as it isn't supposed to be cold in Arizona. |

Re: I miss this truck..
As most of you know. This is what it looks like now. I welded the hole where the heater goes becuase I was going to go with an aftermarket one anyway. And I live in San Francisco and we have the coldest summers here..
