55 2nd disc brakes

Not very computer savvy when it comes to searching this forum but looking for tech info on installing front discs on my 55 3100. I have already swapped the bearings to tapered rollers and will keep the 6 lug pattern.
1. I have seen the kits and am wondering, is there a way to do this thru my local supplier with over the counter parts besides the brackets ?
2. I suspect that I will need to replace the original master with a dual and will I also need a proportioning valve and where does it go ?
3. Is it a simple bolt on or is there elaborate machining that is left out in the general disclaimer?

The answer is parked right beside your pickup. Put that C5 up on blocks, remove the running gear and suspension, fab up a new frame and sit your truck on it. Just kidding of course. I doubt you'll find much in the way of parts locally except through a third or fourth party reseller and you know what that price will be like. You can purchase on the web and get the parts shipped to Blaine, then go pick them up. Duties are generally quite low.

The Master, and PV usually go together as a group in the original place under the floor. The only thing is that you will need to enlarge the hole in the floor for access, and then need to make a small door to cover said hole.

You can get the parts from a local parts store, and some bracket kits tell you what to buy and what works. Its usually a corvette master cylinder because of the compact size. You can buy an adjustable PV that will work with many different combinations. Usually the parts are from '70s midsized cars.

When its all said and done, you may waste more money in gas and time then if you had just purchased a kit. The kit I got was around $300 including everything from CPP.

Also, dont forget to buy lines. New brakes don't work if the lines bust!

I changed over to a 70-81 Camaro front clip, used the discs as is, no prop valve, stock 57 master, worked from '93 till this summer when I swapped out the rear for a Vette IRS, still using the 57 M/C, no valves. I'm using manual, not power. This truck was/is a daily driver all these years.

i just bought the kit 269 .and 159 for master cylinder power brakes , but i switched to 5 lug now wish i kept it 6 lug cause need to swap out rearend
