MTX TERMINATOR tn 250-1 mono 400watt max
I just ordered this amp for my two ten inch kicker comps and i already have the kickers in my truck box, the box came with a terminal on the left and right sides, i am just using the driverside terminal and have piggy backed of the drivers side to the passenger side for a mono amp, my question is the mtx amp although a mono has a two channel output? do i just bridge this for maximum power or just use one channel? thanks

I'm sure someone else that might have a for sure answer, will answer you..
I THINK that mono amps with two sets of outs are just one chanel split two ways (in side the amp.) and no different that just running two pos/two negs out of a single speaker out.. it's just done inside the amp... at least that's what I think I learned here on this forum.... lol...

Re: MTX TERMINATOR tn 250-1 mono 400watt max
Vegas is right...Ignore the fact that the amps speaker outputs look like it's 2 channels, it's only like that to make wiring easier for certain applications.
I'm not sure what you're kickers are (2 or 4 ohm, or SVC or DVC), but you're amp isn't stable at 1 ohm, so here's you're wiring options: If the speakers are DVC: Series/parallel = 4 ohm load Voice coils wired in series, speakers wired in parallel This shows a 4 ohm speaker, but if yours are 2 Ohm, it'll just produce more power, either way, this is the only way you can wire it with a DVC set up and your amp. If you wire it the other way, the Ohms will be 1 or .5 and your amp cannot handle that. If the speakers are SVC: Parallel = 2 ohm load If SVC, wiring the speakers in series would result in a higher ohm rating and less volume output. DVC=Dual Voice Coil where your speaker has 2 spots to connect speaker wires to. SVC=Single Voice Coil where there's only 1 spot to connect speaker wires to.

Ok the kickers are 4ohm so how do i wire them for 2ohm and get 200watts through each channel?

Because it is a mono except split for two sub hook ups straight of the amp. I have two kickers in a truck box with one terminal on each side for each sub.

you can not get 200 watts per sub with that amp you can only get 200 watts RMS total @ 2 ohms |

If they are DVC, you'll need to pull the speakers out and run a "jumper" from 1 negative to the other coil's positive, and connect opposing +/-'s to the terminal and then hook up the amp just like the above (see the diagram I posted for 4 ohm load). I thought the way it works is that if the amp puts out 200 watts at a 2 ohm load, it will be 200 watts to every speaker it's hooked up to as long as it's a 2 ohm load...am I wrong?

now if this amp stated 200 watts RMS x 2 it would be per channel for a total of 400 watts |

you should never buy an amp by what the "max" or "peak" power rating is, its really is all about the RMS rating ask around or maybe some one else will chime in. if you look on the MTX website it does not even have the peak wattage listed only the RMS, dont get me wrong its not a bad amp its just not what your thinking |

Re: MTX TERMINATOR tn 250-1 mono 400watt max
Cool...then all you need to do is connect the wires from the amp to the terminals on the box! This is where the amp's dual terminals would benefit you since you can use 2 wires and it will still be wired at 2 ohms so the speakers will be getting 200 watts.

Re: MTX TERMINATOR tn 250-1 mono 400watt max
Thanks guys im new to audio. So do you think this amp will be a decent amp for two ten inch svc comps? and does this mean each sub will get 200watts?

its hard to answer that LOL, if you like a lot of bass that hits hard then its not going to feed your hunger, its all about what "You" want not what I like this amp will only put out 200 watts x1 so its 100 watts per sub |

the amp is internally bridged and the 2 terminal hook up is just to make hooking up the subs simple |

Re: MTX TERMINATOR tn 250-1 mono 400watt max
Each speaker will share the 200 watts bridged power. Now, the kicker is how good of a box you have. If the box was not built to spec for the Q and appropriate breathing for your subs, you won't get exactly the sound you want. In all honesty, do not expect a ton of bass from two 10s in a truck box, unless you make done adjustments:
Add an electronic crossover to enhance and multiply the low frequencies, tune for the low pass, and cut the mids and highs. Then use the rest of the crossover to tune the bass out from your mids and highs, and clean up the signal. Remember, garbage in, garbage out...make sure your head unit is a good one, and you have ground loop isolators to eliminate alternator whine, and you will be good Posted via Mobile Device
