My curse in life is..

I can never find ANYTHING at ANYTIME, ANYWHERE.. Ugh..

I just spent 2+ hours looking for the oil filter socket that I used last spring. I found the one for my ATV, I found the standard size allen wrench set that was lost sometime in the past. I found several piles of mice droppings but did I find that STOOPID DARN OIL FILTER SOCKET? NOOOOOO... I gave up.. I was beaten by a oil filter socket..

If this is the way 2012 is gonna be then I'm gonna go nuts..

I know as soon as I go buy a replacement I'll find it sitting on my workbench or someplace that's right out in the open.. Ugh..

Re: My curse in life is..

it's called your looking to hard for it. I've been at times in a fury trying to find a particualr tool. Stop, concentrate on something else, and waaalaaa what i was looking for magically appears. happens for me just about everytime.

Re: My curse in life is..

My Garage is two bays plus a work area. I lost the radiator shroud for my '63 in there. I searched for a week top to bottom in a "clean" shop space. I finally concluded that I must have tossed it so I bought an new one. Months later I was looking for something else and found the shroud on a top shelf in clear unobstructed view.

Re: My curse in life is..

Mailman I feel you.

When my Grandpa passed and we cleaned out his (3) outbuildings we found duplicates of almost every small tool, many of them new. I filled a 5 gallon bucket with screwdrivers. Grandma said he would look for something, never find it and go buy a new one not just in old age but forever.

I personally have a problem finding things, used to think it was just a lack of patience (which probably contributes) and some other brain wiring thing but after 10 years of marriage and a career I've come to realize it's more than that, no joke! My wife knows that if she sends me into the closet, drawer, laundry room, whatever I will come back frustrated and empty handed. Used to drive my secretaries nuts too (before going paperless) trying to find things in filing cabinets.

Believe me, you now alone. I'm in the same boat, too.
It don't seem to improve over time, either, however the up-side to the problem is we can hide our own Easter eggs!

Re: My curse in life is..

My dad drove me nuts. He left everything where he last used it, Never and I mean NEVER put anything away.(nothing really had a place- so how could he ?) He also knew the exact location of every tool he owned.
I could never find his stuff , and now I can't find mine either.

Re: My curse in life is..

Sounds like an epidemic!

I try to put things away.... it just doesn't always happen. Since I tend to look for things where I expect to find them, if I failed to put something away, I'll probably have trouble finding it. If I need it badly enough, I'll buy another -- and then of course find the one I had been looking for.

Nice to know I'm in good company....

Re: My curse in life is..

Happens all the time to me too. Once I was looking for my cell phone and it was in my hand the whole time.. Can't forget about the socket or something you set on the dashboard, and look through your tool box, and ask your dad or something "Have you seen the 9/16th socket?!" and get frustrated, and find it an hour or so later. Or the time you set something on your seat and it falls through the crack and you find it a week later when your cleaning your truck out.

Re: My curse in life is..

I loose things on a regular basis....I just have gotten semi-used to it. What bugs me is when my wife comes out to the shop, notices that I seem to be searching for something, and asks what it is. I describe the widget and not even knowing what the thing is or what it does, she'll find it. I'm grateful that she found it, but sometimes she gloats! That's just not right!

Re: My curse in life is..

FOUND IT.. Oh course I've already bought another one.. Good thing they're cheap.. The next time I need to use it I can spend hours looking for the 2 of them..

I do have to say there was some junk piled on top of it but I did move it and look.. Probably picked up the oil filter socket and held it while looking for it..

Re: My curse in life is..

I am a organizer with my tools and most things I own ,,but my problem is this: I sometimes take back tools to my tool chest before I am finished working on a project a tool/or tools ,,that I am not through using and have to go get it again. Hope I am not alone on this.. LOL

In the past I've used water pump pliers, driven screwdrivers through the filter, strap wrench's, etc... GM decided I needed to use the oil filter wrench on this truck. The anti-sway bar runs right past the filter so grabbing onto the side of the filter with something is darn near impossible. I could have fooled with it for a while and gotten it off but it was cold outside so I decided to come on here and post a message...
