1963 chevy c10-just got it and its my first
This is my first try at getting an old vehicle back on the road. Its not going to be a ground up , because I will never be able to afford that. I have got the original 230 six running like a new one and have gotten most of the electrical working. All the glass is good and the windows work. Does the blinkers also work as parking lights? I can't get any juice to them except for the blinkers.

The hood running lights do not glow when the headlights are on.

Do you know if I have to pull the motor out to change the front and rear main seals? I know they will start leaking once I start driving it

They can be replaced in the vehicle , you may need to jack the engine up by the dampener to get it high enough to get the pan off ... I would drive it first and see if it leaks...

I did the oil pan gasket in my 63 w/the engine in. Didnt have to raise the engine to replace the pan gasket. I cant elaborate on the main seals though.

I kind of like the way your exhaust had been run on that... gives me food for thought.
As far as things like brake lines, I learned a long time ago if it is a safety thing, best to replace with all new, and do both sides at the same time. I will probably never buy tires by ones and twos again, as an example. Hope you keep posting, I like how you saved this one from certain death.

1/2 hour from Baton Rouge. Started some body work this evening and I have learned that me and bondo are not going to get along.

Re: 1963 chevy c10-just got it and its my first
The push rod cover on a 292 is much taller than the 250 due to the engines taller deck...

Google how to find it, then you can cross reference the number and find out what motor you have. IIRC there isnt much difference from looking at them from the Chevy 230, 250, and 292 engines, unless you REALLY know what you are looking at. Just so you know, you may have to pull the valve cover off the top to find the number. If I am not mistaken it is on the top lip back near and above the 5-6 spark plug and may be covered or obscured by the valve cover gasket. Good luck.

Yeah...most definitely dont skip on money when it comes to brake lines. Has to start, stop and steer before anything else.
