Not just a truck to me
its been quite some time since i updated my truck status and what ive done in theses past few years....a little about me ...my dad and brother both have blazers since i can remember and they always hoped i would get into the family buisness and pick one up. Well i decided at 18 it was time and found a local christian guy would wanted to pass it on to someone who loved them as much as he did . After i told him a little about my family history he knew i was the guy. We worked out a deal and i brought home what is now my daily driver and favorite vehicle of all time. i consider myself lucky to own a rare piece of history and to get it at an affordable price. i not an expert by any means but im learning and this site has giving me such great information and learning tools to make my truck live a little longer....So far ive replaced the rockers, a pillars, floorboards, and kick panel metal as far as rust work goes...other then that theres so much else ive done it would be hard to list it out....check out the pictures and let me know what you guys think
Thanks, Brandon

Re: Not just a truck to me
Very cool. I know exactly how you feel. I bought my '68 when I was 14 and I still have it 20 years later. Your lucky to have family to enjoy the hobby with. Looking forward to more pics.

Re: Not just a truck to me
Couldn't resist so im posting more pictures. The bed of the blazer was rusted in the rear right corner so i fixed that and changed out the passenger wheel well as the original was destroyed with rust and damage. So i wire brushed the rear lightly after fixing the issues and then applied por-15 liberally throughout the bed. i decided that making my own rear carpet and wheel well covers was a better and cheaper route then buying a set so i took basic black car carpet and formed it into the bed and made my own wheel well covers with the same material. my first time sewing and i think they turned out decent enough. i still have fatmat waiting in the mail, which i plan on covering the entire rear cargo area . From there i need ideas on what to level the carpet with and what is the best sound deadner for inside the bed sides? any help is appreciated. ill put up my progress pics then when im done ill get the other pictures up.

Re: Not just a truck to me
its all rough fit at this point but im hoping to have it finished before the new year and back on the road or else it usually looks like this sitting of the ground under the knife.

Re: Not just a truck to me
Here's the best bang for your buck as far as sound deadener goes. I've used it on a few builds and very happy with the results.

Re: Not just a truck to me
I did the whole interior of my last build, and the car was dead quiet with zero smell. I had the car 8 years and never had any issues like delamination. The bitumen on Peel and Seal is a bit thinner than Dynamat, but I've used both and noticed no difference in the way they work.

Re: Not just a truck to me
I have no idea what the stuff is made from, I just know it works. My main concern was adhesion over time and most of all, smell. I'm just stating my opinion of the product because I've actually used it. I hear a lot of negative comments online from others, but how many of these Guys have actually used it? If there was only a slight cost savings, I probably wouldn't waste my time using it, but this stuff is only 20% of the price of Dynamat. To me it's worth trying out.

Good to hear if worked great for you. Ill probaly fill in what i need with peel n seal. Ive heard the horror stories too so its good to your vehicle never had any issues and you provided pictures. Very good info, advice and to me your comments are well received my friend, thank you. I orered 50sq ft of fatmat a week ago and the bed requires 37.5 ft i beleive just for the floor. So i hoping ill have enough for the wheel wells and sone interior side wall. Peel n seal the rest, add some double sided aluminum bubble insulation and viola! Its beautiful and sound worthy ( i hope).

Fatman is in!!!
Fatmat is in . I used 50sq ft and it covered the bed and wheel wells but not enough for sidewalls. Cuts some aluminum sided bubble strips 1 3\4 inch wide to fill the gaps in tbe bed floor ( i was looking to this because it wont hold moisture). Gonna finish the sidewalls with peal n seel and get some jute padding to go under the front and rear of the cargo area. Some pics.

Re: Not just a truck to me
It was $89.99 through amazon its the 50 mil 18"x 33' 1/2 roll. Went in great and i know it stuck really good because im a big dude and had to use alot of force to pull a misplaced piece to reset it.
