71 GMC Hauler
I'm brand spanking new to the board here, and to this old 71 GMC Custom I picked up last weekend for $1000. My plans are to use it for hauling and hunting for now, and clean it up as I get the chance. Runs and drives really nice, has a new(er) 350 in it from 1993, lots of receipts and info in the owners manual. I bought it from a guy at work, and he got it from the original owner.

nice looking GMC! Like that color. Post up the SPID list in the glove box so we can see the options.

Re: 71 GMC Hauler
Welcome!! Yeah, I like that color also. I wonder with some elbow grease if you could bring that exterior color back to life. You got a good deal on it too.

Re: 71 GMC Hauler
Nice find, looks to be fairly rust free. Whatever you do dont get rid of those dog dish caps. Finding them again in good condition will not be easy.

Re: 71 GMC Hauler
I took the step bumper off. A little hammering and a wire wheel cleaned it up nice. Did some rattle can primer and a satin/flat black. I had to pound out one of the bolts, and they are all pretty gruesome anyways, so I'm going to go get some new galvanized bolts and get it back on the truck this week. I'm going to do the same thing to the wheels this weekend (hopefully).

Re: 71 GMC Hauler
Got the bumper installed and the wheels painted and put back on today. Black looks quite a bit better than dirty white with rust. Up next is some minor engine stuff - replace valve cover gaskets, new spark plugs, general cleaning. Then on to some bolt on headers and exhaust.
