I have a 78 350 and cannot decide on what brand of cam to go with. Are there any suggestions out there?

It all depends on what you want your truck to do. Then you have to look at what setup you already have with heads, intake, stall converter, etc. If you can give us some info we can help you out more.

Stock heads with stock springs can only take so much cam. Do you plan on adding any headers, gears, intake or other stuff?
Do you want a daily driver? Street killa or stump puller?

The easiest method would be to call the manufacturer. They'll ask you questions about your setup then recommend a cam for you.

is down with a virus so I have to go to my friends house to reply. Sorry it has taken so long. I have a 1978 Chevy ck-10 with a 350 in it. There is a problem here though. When I bought the truck I was told that a 350 was put in it. The factory data plate under the hood says 305. How can I identify the engine so I will know for sure?I already have hedman headers, edelbrock manifold and carb. As of now, stock heads but hopfuly not for long. I want the truck to have git up at go!! A lot of torque. Not so much top end but I want something that is going to jump of the line. It will be my mani transpo though so it cant be too radical. I like the lopey idle but I dont know what cam to go with. With this info, are there any suggestions? Thanks

comp cams all the way. .440 or .454 lift high energy if you have to pass smog.

Any manufacture is good. I have used Competition Cams, Lunati and Crane recently. Currently using a Crane and will most likely be getting a roller from them.

As for recommendations, call the manufature you want to use and tell them what you have. If you are keeping stock springs don't go much over .450 lift.
I have used Cranes Blueprint 350hp/327 cam in a 350 with good results on a stock motor. 222/.447
