Which seat do I have??
My truck is a 68, I know the seat is not original because I swapped it several years ago before I knew too much about these trucks. It has a foam bottom but a spring back. Is that a correct combination or has the back been switched out? I want to rebuild the seat, I order new foam for the bottom but really want the "foam back" style. Can I switch the spring back for a foam back frame? If so where could I find one?
Any help / suggestions would be appriciated.

Re: Which seat do I have??
I would say you have the correct back for the bottom. apparantly ( and please correct me if I'm wrong) but the seats for these trucks came as spring back/foam bottom, spring back/spring bottom and foam back/foam bottom. now, I dont know what years had which combo, or if it was a trim level difference.
it looks like lmc has you covered on the foam bottom, but they dont do anything for the spring units: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=47 not sure if that link will work and as for swapping backs..hopefully someone can chime in on that :P Last edited by schurg; 01-14-2012 at 07:30 PM. Re: Which seat do I have??
Looks like the correct seat to me. Mine has the spring back and foam bottom. Seat came out of a 1968 GMC. I recently had it re-covered and the seat needed new foam backing. Paid $350 for new foam backing, frame cleaned and painted, and custom seat covers.

Re: Which seat do I have??
Thanks, nice looking seat Kieth. I am hoping to find a foam back frame somewhere and be able to switch it with my spring back.
