oil pressue question

If i unplug my oil pressure wire from the sending unit and the gauge stays pegged all the way to the highest it means the sending unit is bad right??? And then one more question. Right next to the oil pressure sending unit by the distributor is a little 2 pronged can, what is this for???? When i have mine plugged in and i turn the truck off it stays running!!

Re: oil pressue question

I would think it would mean your gauge is bad. I don't know about the can.

Re: oil pressue question

Ok thanks, that can comes off the same thing the oil pressure sending unit does.

Re: oil pressue question

The truck is a 85 K10, but its not the original engine and the numbers on the front ps of the block aren't there, so not sure what year the engine is.
