71 blazer with 72 doors?

I bought a 71 blazer and thru the course of reading everything I can about the trucks I am under the impression that only the 72 model had the screw in the door near the vent window. Looking at the rust in the truck this morning I noticed that my 71 has these as well. With my pocket knife I scraped down to what apears to be the original paint color and it is the same as the rest of the truck. Is there a possibility that the late 71 models had this or is it more likely that PO changed both doors?

Richard

Most women like the strong, silent type… Fortunately for me, my wife prefers the out-of-shape, mouthy type.

Re: 71 blazer with 72 doors?

I think all of the blazers had the screw under the wing window. The blazers had a plastic grommet and the 72 only trucks had a steel piece that went in the door. The big difference is 72 had the plastic door panels and different length door release and window mech.

Re: 71 blazer with 72 doors?

71 models had the screw, but it is different than the screw in a 72 door. 71 doors have a plastic spacer between the door and screw head that sticks out a bit. 72 doors have flush or actually recessed screw heads that are seated in a metal sleeve. There was another post recently that had good pictures of both types.

Re: 71 blazer with 72 doors?

Thanks for asking this because mine's a 70 and they too have the screw (plastic grommit)...never bothered me, but it's good to know.
