My name is Kyle, I am from Whiteman AFB, Missouri and just scooped up a new project after following this site for a little bit, I thought I would dig into a longbed project. Here is my truck. $850 5.7 V8 SBC, rebuilt tranny and the usual tired motor probably the fourth one that has been in the truck. I look forward to keeping up with the forum and getting some good ideas.

Re: New Member

Thanks guys! Yea...snowless... we have only had two snows accumulating about 2 inches total. So Missouri hasn't really gotten any...shockingly.

Very clean. That grill is my favorite for all the 81-87 trucks.

Thanks appreciate it! Yea the 83 has a pretty clean body...its been body filled and beat up a little bit... but with a little work we will see. Not exactly sure the route...being a 2 wheel drive truck it will have to be set up with a street feel. I plan on taking it project by project. I first plan to replace the transmission filter and pan gasket, fix the speedo after snagging a gear from the local transmission shop, cleaning up the dirty engine bay...just swapped out plugs and plug wires and threw a new air filter on it.... the simple stuff is always fun. Gotta fix the exhaust leak and rebuild or atleast swap the carb out... but like I said project by project lol. Interior is gonna be a pretty large focus after finishing the bed lining. But I am excited to get to work on it.

At least your starting with a very nice truck, so your keeping it basic for right now.

Will do for sure...there won't be a build thread yet, but I will keep my photos and projects together for it later down the road.

Re: New Member

Transmission Filter was a *****... found out I have a 700r4 not the turbo350 I thought originally...and after two trips to the parts store... I got lucky and found some great used tires and swapped them out for the two front which are rotted beyond holding anything longer than 2 days, so by mounting and balancing them by myself at Auto Hobby I saved a killing.
