My left side gas tank, on the sender unit the ground fell off from rust, is there any way to ground the sender unit with the tab that holds the ground wire broke off?

Re: Ground on sender unit fell off HELP

Ok I have a question.

On my sender unit there is a wire that plugs into the sender unit, that wire is good to go. Now there is the purple wire. That purple wire came off the tank, what is the purple wire?? Do I need it? Where does it connect to???
