72 bottom trim ?'s

so after getting the top trim on I was looking at the truck and since we are not painting it until next year I wanted to know if the botton trim wood grain can be pealed off... also do you guys know if the botton trim is all adhesive or is it actually clipped on to the bottom like the top..

any ideas on how to either remove the wood trim stuff or paint the middle of the lower trim. I would rather take off the woog grain and polish the bottom trim like the top... I would consider removing all together if the trim is glued on..... let me know please..

In 1972 they use a little of both stick on and clips. Just get creative in removing the woodgrain. Then mask off and paint black. i would definitily put the trim back on. that truck would look funny without lower trim IMO

Re: 72 bottom trim ?'s

now that you say it, I see how it would look weird with no bottom trim.... I think I will try to peal it off, if not sand it and paint.... I am hoping somebody has done this before and shares how the did remove it

I have used a good paint stripper before to remove the wood grain. Then you could ruff up the area a little, mask it and paint it black.

Re: 72 bottom trim ?'s

I never tried it before but a good steamer takes wallpaper off real good, maybe it would work on the woodgrain

I will try a small spot first to see if it will work... then buff it and maybe paint it if it works
