Dana 60 rear
I got a Dana 60 rear out of a Longhorn that was being parted. It has 3.54 gears in it.
What I need to know is will the rear end bolt into my 72 K-10 SWB? Are the perches the same width across? The Longhorn was a 71 or 72, with the 402....I still dont know why the guy parted it out...but I got the front clip and the rear for $500....probably a little high, but what the hay... I'd just measure it myself, but I'm aboard ship right now....and I didn't even think about the perch width until I read another post in this forum....Ideas? Thanks... ------------------ Pat Adams

Okay...so what you guy's are saying...even though this Longhorn is a C-20, the perch's are still 40 apart....like the K-10, and
K-20's? I'm mean...it's no great big deal anyway....perch's are movable...I was just wondering. Thanks for all the input! Patch

there are no 10 series longhorns, longhorns use the 40 centers, longhornmail or 69 longhorn recently measured on their longhorn leaves and confirmed this, all someone here has to do is go under their longhorn and m3easure real quick and see..

If the Longhorn is a two wheel drive you will have to re-weld perches. You didn't say in the first post, but most were and I think that would be especially true with 3.54 gears.

Don't forget all longhorns are leaf suspensions. You would have to re-weld if you pulled one from a coil pickup and put it in a leaf (like a 4X).

And all longhorns were 2X. If it's a 4X longhorn, it's not original.

Yes, the longhorn is 40" C to C on the springs.....its on a 30 series chassis. Mine is a 20 series truck,but still on a 30 series frame....69 longhorn.

longhorn axle will bolt into K10 then,
gear ratio in it has nothing to do with perches happy swapping Adam! [This message has been edited by Fast68Chevy (edited March 26, 2002).] |
