What's you best Snipe time...LOL, with without a program

Whats you best snipe ebay time on truck part without some automated bidding program. Dial up or dsl or sat or cable... what type connection you have also.

I've gotten it down to about 3-4 seconds.. It gets pretty intense.. stopwatch and everything lol

i have to agree with spinning wheels.... i lost a set of wheels and tires for $65 shipping included at 30 seconds to a sniper if i just wanted them i wouldnt care but my tires only have 1/8 inch of tread left so i needed them (hard to find cheap mud/snow tires in a 265-285/75/16)

Dont kid yourself I've been sniped many times.... I dont use any program for bidding.... I know what I will pay on items and at the last few seconds I post what Id pay... if it wins good... if it dont .. well ,.. maybe next time... at last seconds bidding you wont get a second chance to bid... and you can lose also. I cant always be online when an item nears its end time. I bid once in a while full bore and wait to see what happens.

I'm so new to this whole Ebay thing that I felt a bit sad the first time it happend to me. Never even knew these snipers use a program for it. Now my policy is, if I don't get it this time, there will be a next time. Next time I'm gonna do it the same way as Rod said, in the last possible time place the bid. :p

My best snipe without using a progran is 5 sec. with dial-up.

Also IMO Its either Snipe or be sniped.
I used to loose auctions to snipers so I figured, When in Rome....

I snipe to keep the cost down from people who are just playing.
When I snipe I do like Rod said, put in the max I'm willing to pay.

Regardless if you snipe or not if you put in the max your willing to pay and you loose then someone wanted it more than you.

And if you don't do it this way. You get something worse than sniping. It is the ebayer who has to be the high bidder every minute. You will recognize them by the 15-20 bids they placed in 2 minutes so they can be $1 higher than the last bidder. The winner is the guy with the high bid at the end of the auction, not the high bidder during the 6 days before.

I know nothing of a snipe program in fact this is the first i have heard of one. I do know that if I want something I will bid the max that I am willing to pay. If I win great!!! If not no harm and I spend my money on something else.

It's not that I do it to pi$$ anyone off ... but I also got tired of losing at the last minute.

Bid what you're willing to pay in the first place and you'll never lose. You'll either win it for what you were willing to pay, or it will go higher than you were willing to pay.

BTW, I use a snipe script that generally gets it down in the 1-2 second range.

I know exactly what u mean, an art using dial up, because not only are u timing how long u have till the auction ends, but how long it will take u to wait till the computer gets there. LOL, I have gotten pretty good at the sniping game, down to about 6-7 secs using dial up, I have been beat many times though too. Just gotta use the old" well i guess I wasnt meant to have it then" saying.

I don't use a program, but open a seperate screen to refresh the auction, while I have my other screen filled out with my max amount. As the auction gets down to 5 seconds or less, I press the confirm bid button.

Bidding early just drives the cost of the auction up.

I use e-snipe. I put in the maximum that I want to bid, and then forget about it. It was pretty funny how stressed I would get as an auction was about to end. lol

I agree with Rod. I put in the amount I'm willing to pay at the last second.

My philosophy is that if everyone is putting in what they're willing to pay, the one who wants to pay the most will outbid me automatically. If people just have bidding fever, then I don't need to give them any time to jack up my bid.

hahahaha you guy remind me of my friends nieghbor. He got into ebay about 3 months agos. he's into buying COX toys from the late 60's and early 70's. That guy studied everything. He get it down to the last second. Thats how good he is. He timed everything just so he can be ahead. The only time he lose was cause he was entering his username as a password, lol.

I have a dell 350mhz. on dsl. No program, no stopwatch, no multiple screens. I just refresh down to appx. 30 seconds on the auction clock, slowly put in my max bid, hit submit, humm a little, & then hit confirm bid. My slow days hit with 5-8 seconds to go. usually under 4 seconds. THIS IS WHERE I STUCK FOOT IN MOUTH- "I've had many well under 1/2 second- quite a few wins with under 4 tenths of a second left"- I call it luck. sometimes I overwait & miss it.

If your not using a program or stop watch ... how do you know you are with a half to 4 tenths of a second ... Ebay's clock only displays whole seconds ....

Yep, you guys got me. I don't even know how to read a friggin clock! I guess I can't read the 24 hour clock worth a damn! But hey, I have been self- employed for over 10 years now. I don't pay much attention to clocks, just ask my customers. They will tell you that I am always at the shop, never come in early, but always work late. If asked "when do you open?" I say around 8:30. "when do you close?" Around 6 but I will probably be here till 9, maybe 11.

I ONLY snipe. There's no point in bidding on anything until very close to the end of the auction; it only serves to drive the price up for everyone. I'll deliberately look for appealing items that have a very low number of bids made going into the final day and snipe for 'em - you make a KILLING this way and get amazing deals. I use DSL and can make it with around 3-4 seconds remaining, but generally I plan on around 5-10 just to be safe if it is something I really want.
